String Tie Downs??
Posted by Moses on Monday, June 16, 2003 11:01 AM
I use tea bag string, thinned with white glue to keep the fuzzyness down. Is there some alternatives that some of you use that can simulate the strings?

Thanks

Rob

I use that type of cloth elastic string. The stuff that is used to tie tags onto clothing or shoes in the store. Almost perfectly round without fuzz. Usually comes in black or white.

I buy string from the model ship section. It comes in various scales and looks good and is inexpensive over time due to the large quantities you can buy.

nylon upholstery thread. Comes in different colors and sizes. It's a twisted fiber so it looks like rope. Very strong and no fuzzies.

I've often used "button thread." It can be pretty heavy stuff, but the windings look nice...

a tip from Martha, use beeswax on string. A dab on you finger after you paint the string will keep the fuzz away.
Or, you could paint the string a base color, dab with wax and then dirty it up. The dirt will cling to the wax forever. Holy Smoly Batman!! I thought of something orininal...I think.
Screw Martha, anybody cando her job!!!
