Not in US use except for training at Ft. Irwin in the Mojave Desert. That being said, it may have had some use by a middle eastern or north African nation. I wonder if the Israelis ever had them?

This reply is a little off topic, but I have seen pictures of Thai M-41's along with some other Asian nations using them.

Israel was formed in 1948 and the first M41s didn't come into service until 1951. So it wasn't obsolete, it was cutting edge techology. Besides, variants of the M41 are still in use today by South American countries and some European nations (highly modified) and Israel was using WW2 Sherman tanks into the 1960s. I just don't know if the Israelis used Bulldogs or not.

I know the Israelies had M48s They are fairly similar to a M41 aren't they? They were used in the Yom Kippur War. Yet again heavly modified too. Those crazy Israelies do some funny things with Tanks.

I did some searching on the web and I found this great website on Israeli weapons, (and some of their opponents weapons), and the only country that used the m41 in any of the jewish-arab wars was Jordan

After General Walker's Bulldog??? Wink [;)]
I have no idea. Who was it named after then?
And I don't think the Israelis ever used the M41. Too lightly armored for their taste LOL
Israelis did so many modifications to their tanks, because they were embargoed for so long and couldn't get any good arms deals. Everything had to be bought on the black market, in secret. So they kept their "old" tanks running as long as they could on as little means as possible... Got to admit, they did a really good job...

The tank was originally called the Little Bulldog but was renamed the the Walker Bulldog after Gen. Walton Walker died in a Jeep accident during the Korean War. He was the commander of US forces there.

Israel did use a few of the Walker Bulldogs after they captured them from Jordan during the 1956 War. Because of the embargo they used everything they could capture as well as modify and maintain what they already had. In fact, during the 1963 War, the Israelis captured two battalions worth of Soviet equipment from the Egyptains (Third Army I believe), and used them to form two new armored battalions that are stationed in the Negev desert. They were kept as a reserve in the 1973 War, but did see some action stopping the Egyptian breakout from the Suez. They still have some T-34/85, JS 3, T-62 and T-72 tanks in storage today, along with BTR 60's, BMP 1's and some BTR 152's that have been captured over the years. There are even two companies of Artillery using the BM 14-16 and BM 21 Rocket trucks captured from Syria and Iraq.

I was told by a friend of mine from Israel that they NEVER discard anything, no matter how old it is. They just heavily modify it, because they are afraid that they'll be embargoed again, and run out of stuff in the event of another major Arab attack against them, even today. Take note of the M 3 Halftracks from WWII that they still patrol with! I saw one on the news the other day while watching a story showing the Israeli Army disbanding another settlement. I was shocked to say the least!

This is way off the topic, but is that an M-41 in "Charlie's Angels II?"
I've only seen the ads for it, but I think that's a Walker Bulldog in that scene on the bridge.
