M24 Chaffee

I don't know about the Italeri chaffee, but Tamayia has a close relative of the Chaffee. The Walker Bulldog light tank or M-41 has the same chasis. Hope you find what you want.

The M24 and M41 have nothing in common except for the .50 cal and maybe road wheels. Light bulbs might be the same in the headlights and the taillights are a fairly standard deal.

Yes, in 1/35 scale the Italeri kit is the only M24 Chaffee light tank, Testors also boxed this kit as kit #810. It represents a late war or post war variant. Word on the street is that Italeri is putting out a backdated WW2 variant with proper tracks and some changes in fittings.

Hasegawa does one in 1/72 scale and Matchbox does one in 1/76 scale.

BTW, the Tamiya M41 has been surpassed by the AFV Club M41 and Skybow M41. Both of these are superior kits.

Italeri is supposed to release a revamped Chaffee sometime this year. The earlier one they had was a post W.W.II variant (I think) and the new one is supposed to represent a W.W.II variant.

I'm not aware of any other companies that produce it, but the Italeri kit wasn't too bad, especially for Italeri.

Italeri's model is the only 1:35th scale game in town. Fun kit - I enjoyed building it. I also look forward to the new release with some features common to the WW II variant. I recommend the model highly - one of Italeri's best like the M47 Patton II MBT.

Okay, so I guess it's the revamped Italeri kit that I was thinking about.

I had the Testors boxing of this kit on a few occasions, every time I sell a collection I kick myself for not keeping this or that...

Guntruck, nice build. Serves as a bit more inspiration for this "weekender" project of mine.

A friend of mine scratchbuilt a Chaffee years ago, and that's really what started my fascination with the M24. He did a great job, and I've often thought about doing a ground-up armor piece of some sort. But, now that I think about it, I ain't that nutz anymore!

Any tips on the Italeri kit, stuff I should watch out for?

Yup, it's a good kit. Got two of 'em.
Lots of good aftermarket stuff available, too. Friul tracks, Ordnance PE, tons of others.
