I'm not sure if it will on Acrylics but for enamel paint removal, I use Castrol Super Clean. It doesn't mess with the bond of the glue either (I use Testors and Tamiya cement) I put the part in a plastic Rubbermaid type container with a lid. Let it soak for awhile, depending on how thick the paint coats are. You will see the paint start to lift off the part or just disolve.
If you use it, make sure and wear some type of rubber gloves. I keep a box of those surgical ones handy. When the paint lifts off, I then clean the part with soap and water, to get rid of the CSC. If some stubborn spots remain, I use a very soft bristle brush (an old tooth brush to be exact)
Hope this is helpful.
