Gamma Goats?
Posted by nimshi on Wednesday, July 9, 2003 11:11 PM
Has anyone ever seen a kit of the Gamma Goat? We used them in the 101st Airborne back in the early seventies to tow our 105s and as an airmobile troop and equipment carrier. I would love to build one of those articulated SOBs.

Nope have'nt seen any.Drove one myself at Ft. Campbell, while in a battalion level fire support team back in '84.Hated that vehicle SO much that I begged my FSO to move me into a platoon F.O. slot, which he did.Humping a ruck plus prc77 was a pleasure compared to driving the goat****

I've never even seen one at a model show where all the scratch builders come out of the woodwork Check into 1/72nd scale there may be something there. Usually Sabot knows all the kits out there so hopefully he'll discover this post.

Rocco 1/87 scale (not a kit) may have one. Haven't seen a resin or vacuformed one at all (not that that means anything).

I think you're right Sabot. I do believe RoCo did make one way back when, Does anyone have a website where they have a complete RoCo catalog? I'm thinking about getting a few oddball vehicles that were around back then that there are no kits of nor likely to be.

I don't know any site that has a full catalog, but I know Roco does make one because I have one. I painted it up a bit and have it displayed. I'll have to take a picture of it sometime soon.

More than a few Volunteer Fire Depts. around this 'neck of the woods' has a sad looking, red painted, Gama or two sitting behind the station house with a slide-in grassfire rig in the back.

A Gamma Goat makes a background appearance in Terminator 3 towards the end of the movie. Just a vehicle parked in the background of the airplane hanger.

I know, just some useless information.

When I was in 2nd ACR we had one in each troop for the supply room. We called it the "gamble goat". Never saw a model of one.

I remember that there was a model of the gamma goat. I think that it was by AFV and it was at least 15 years ago. Someone probably has one sitting a closet somewhere.

Hi all
There was a 1:35 kit of the gamma goat,it was made in the 70s by a company called Schmidt and was a vacform kit.I believe that to get it right a considerable amount of work was needed. There are pics about on the net of this kit if you can find them.
Also there is a goat in Patriot games in the desert scenes.

I personally, NEVER want to see another Gamma Goat as long as I live. Any one who has ever ridden in the back of one of these things wouldn't be looking for a kit!!!!!

Question: Has anyone ever seen a Gamma Goat that was ESC Green?
