Ambush scheme

When I did mine, I airbrushed it tamiya dark green, covered the areas I wanted to keep, sprayed tamiya red brown, masked those areas, keeping the green mask on, then finally sprayed the dark yellow, unmasked everything, then applied the leaveish stuff with a chopped up, old paintbrush

Freehand the base colors them take an index card and cut out several different shaped spots of the correct size then use it as a stencil and spray them on. Look at some photos of the actual paint jobs to get an accurate feel for pattern size and spot density. Greg.

WHat i did with my spitfire and gave me good results. I scanned the camo pattern of the isntructions on the computer and resized it to the correct size of the model and printed it and cutted the darker portions of the pattern away to make a stencil. Using rolled over masking tape, i kind of created a cushion of about 1mm high and applyed that on the model to smooth edges just a bit, the height of the cushion will change the smoothness between the colors. I finally airbrushed perpendicularly (please fogive the wrong spelling lol) the darker color.

start with the base of Dark Yellow, or Dunkelgelb as you might see on some paint labels... eemm, then I usually paint with a brush, and how I do it is I leave alot of paint off, I do the Red Brownish colour called RotBrun and kinda feather it. Starting from the outside in allows me to get the fading effect as I go for more paint as I work in, then I do the Olive Green (not drab) the same way, usually I feather the red-brown into the pattern I want, and then do the same with the green, that way I get a template or a stencil to work with, I'll probably do the same with an AB though too

I AB freehand and then use a #5 spotter brush to paint the dots. I've seen many different sizes and colors.

I airbrush the pattern free hand and usually apply the leaves with a small tipped paint brush. On the Sturmtiger I used a stencil I cut out of paper to do the leaves. On the Jagdtiger I used a Q-Tip swab. I don't really like the looks of the Q-Tip too much though.

I Have only done soft edge schemes so I can't comment on hard edge techniques.

a mini brush works well to apply the dot. They come in several sizes too.

I mask with playdo to acheive the hard edge on the three tone, then use a small applicator to apply the dots.......
