Sanding Road Wheels
Posted by ILuv3ggs on Tuesday, July 15, 2003 12:47 AM
Hey,

i haven't been to these forums in quite a while, so forgive me if i am repeating a question already asked,

What is the best way to sand road wheels down keeping them circular. I am finding that after sanding road wheels i have lost the circular shape.

i was thinking of trying to mount the road wheels onto a drill, but the drill i have doesn't have changable speeds.

any suggestions ?

thanks

I take it you are reffering to the mold line that needs to be removed before you can put your wheels on? If so, my method is to simply scrape the line off with a blade. Unless there has been a problem during the molding process, and the two 'halves' of the wheel are not centered properly, I always end up with very circular wheels using this technique. Tip: If your wheels have rubber rims, chipping a bit of the rubber off will look good.
