M777 Howitzer. Who would like a 1/35 model of this?

Me too. I was just looking to see what my old units were on now. Seems the 2/11 switched to this. Already built what the 1/5 is using now. Ah well. Getting old. No one is shooting what they were back in the late 60's.

And looking further I see my 9th arty has moved from the 175sp to Paladin. I'm waiting on the AFV club of this to come back in stock. It seems the only version to consider.

I have been searching for years for this kit.  Love to see a USMC M-777.  Also looking for USMC HIMARS kit in 1/35.  Does anyone know if USMC is manning M-1120 THAAD rocket launchers?

I would build two at the least. I started off modeling with planes (dad was on the USS Saratoga CV-60), then ships of the line for the modern US Navy, then tanks, now arty. I would love to have a few M-777's in my collection. Over the last 40 years, I've built thousands of models. I love the M-198 kit, and this second model of the M-198  I am taking to a whole new level, using my 40 years of experience. Pics as soon as I can.

I'm amazed there isn't a plastic kit of this, I'd certainly build one.

Personally I'd prefer 1/72 but in a case like this I can't get picky.

Unfortunately, there is still no model of an M777 Howitzer.  I would love to see one as well.  Keep your fingers crosssed.

My son is an instructor on this weapon, and I have combed the internet searching for a model for his desk. The PX at Ft. Sill doesn't carry this model and I didn't have any luck in a response from the actual manufacture of the weapon. Surely someone has one of these on their desk or behind it. Any leads would be appreciated.

And no 1/35 M119-series howitzer despite it being around in the US inventory since 1991.

There is an M119 in resin by Mouse House out of Australia.

Agree it would be nice to see an M777A2 LW155 howitzer model.  It has been in sevice with the US Marine Corps, US Army, and Canadian army for several years, and has fired in anger in both Iraq (USMC and US Army) and Afghanistan (all three services).  Part of the issue may be that some of the drawings belong to BAE in the UK, and some to the US government.

But hey, M198s officially disappear from the US Active component this year, and we just got that model.  And no 1/35 M119-series howitzer despite it being around in the US inventory since 1991.

Trumpeter has made 2 1/35  kits of the M-198,  #02319 late version and #02306 early version.  I would have to pull out the kits to tell you what the actual differences are, but I seem to remember they are minimal and the parts in the kits are the same.

Yup, all over them.   Also, the parts for both versions are in both boxings, the directions just don't show them.

The statement you quoted was from 2005.  Long before the Trumpy kits were even thought of.  This is precisely why resurrecting long-dead threads is a bad idea.  It confuses people.  If you have been gone for many years just start a new post.

Finally, it is now 2011 and we still haven't seen nor heard of an M777 model of any kind, plastic or resin.

I built the first EARLY version M-198 from Trumpeter. It is EXCELLENT. I have built the second LATE version, to about 90%. I used brass and lots of rubber tubing, and wiring to replace the molded on details.Anyone who wants to chat about this model....please take time to say hi. I got in over my head on changing all of the details, but I think I can do it. I just have to re-commit. The model  didn't lose my interest....the little bumps in life side tracked me.

YES....I want this model.

I find artillery as a model is more personal than an AFV....because everything is open, and the use of punch-and die to make nuts and bolts raises the level of interest for me. It is just different in a good way, and every tanker needs some arty!

And I live across the road from the BAE shipyard. Well actually I am virtually in the middle of the yard as there are parts behind as well.

I was in the ideal place to see the bow section of the LPD Albion (all 2000 tons of it) being moved from the assembly area to the slipway.
