Help with 1/72 Track assembly
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, July 28, 2003 1:08 PM
Hello Sailors!

I am working on my 1st 1/72nd scale Tank (Revell - PzKfWg IVH)
and am looking for an approach to assembling the tracks.

I am not certain as to what I am trying to do with the single track segments that are included.

The instructions depict them assembled as a semi-circle around the sprockets with the odd one used as an interface between two straight pieces.

What is the best method of assembling these? I gather that the tracks are going to look as though they are "tight" around sprokets and bogies rather than "limp'".

thanks in advance to all 1/72 tankers.

Best Regards,

Jim F

Does kit have only single links or does it use "link & length"? With link & length (some single links and some fixed multilinks referred to as "runs"), It is best NOT to glue on the sprocket to the hull.

Glue the single links to the sprocket making sure that the last link towards the bottom points at an angle. Test fit the sprocket and then affix the runs so that they stay straight along the suspension. Try to make all the slack end towards the sprocket, that way you can turn it to adjust the fit of the tracks. Sometimes it may require squeezing in an extra link.

u can use strips of tape to hold the individual links together, put a little glue on 'em & then wrap the section of track around the idler and drive wheels before the glue sets. it's still kinda fiddly, but not as bad as doing the links one at a time...
