Acrylic crayons
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, July 30, 2003 7:21 AM
I've just comleted my first project, a Stuart Light tank.
To help me weather it I bought some acrylic crayonds and filed them so as to produce a very fine "Sand" I mixed the colours to my taste and then brushed them over the model before finishing off with a matt varnish.
Anyone tried this method?

What you are describing is close to the pastel chalks that a few of us use for weathering. Usually the wax crayons don't work as well and tend to "glob" up when finishing.
Please keep us posted as to your progress and your findings with this method.
Happy Modelling and God Bless Robert
