Damage
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, August 2, 2003 11:25 AM
Hi there

Out of interest; what damage would bazooka rounds do 2 a King Tiger if hit where it has most armour? Would they leave little damage? or what? I would really like to know.
Thanx a lot. I really appreciate it.

Keep wellBig Smile [:D]

Unless I am mistaken, the King Tiger was the M1A1 of its day. It had armor nobody was familiar with destroying. So unless I am mistaken a bazooka round would of probably just put a dent in a King Tiger if even than. I would put just a small dent. Hopefully this helps.

The Bazooka round would most likely just bounce off, or take off some of the Zimmerit sheeting (if it had zimmerit obviously)

My uncle, who recently passed away, was in the Army infantry in WWII. He would recount stories about the guys firing bazookas--going for the tracks, realizing the rounds would do nothing to the turret/hull. The tracks could be dislodged/broken, making the tank vulnerable to attack.

That was very smart of your uncle. Because there is no other way to stop them fast.

My limited knowledge of the "bazooka" is that it was fairly worthless against any armored vehicle.
Wasn't it primarily used against softer targets, like RPGs today? Forgive my ignorance!
