Curious Zil in the making...
Posted by djmodels1999 on Saturday, August 2, 2003 4:24 PM
This is my latest near-completed project. It's a Radar Station developed from the famous Zil 157 soviet truck. The kit is the 1/72 offeing from Trumpeter (the tanker) with a new box at the back and a few other little changes and details added. The radar 'dish' is scratch, very probably not too accurate 'cause I only have a few blury pics of the thing... Still, at this stage, the 'dish' counts 282 parts... so it's still pretty well detailed.

The colour scheme comes from the only colour pic I have of the vehicle, assuredly taken somewhere and sometimes in (North) Viet-Nam, given the colour of the soil and the MiG-21 partly visible in the background...

Hope you like it, so far!

Hey dj,
Pretty darn cool my friend!! Even though its 1/72d, they sure can pack a whole lot of detail in those lil buggersTongue [:P]
Cant wait to see the finished build.
Flaps up, Mike

If you would listen to everybody about the inaccuracies, most of the kits on your shelf would not have been built Too Close For Guns, Switching To Finger

Thanks guys, I'm hoping to complete the 'revolving' mechanism later today, then start painting the damn delicate thing... The truck itself still needs a bit of work too.
