Camo anyone?
Posted by okieboy on Tuesday, August 5, 2003 1:45 AM
Okay, I'm stuck working nights all this week and I thought I'd get some research done while I'm here. Dead [xx(] Can anyone point me in the right direction for some camoflage netting for my 1/16 Tiger I? Due to Allied air supremacy, German tanks had a tough going, well anywhere! So when you see photos of them, they are almost always hiding in trees, buildings, or they are sporting camoflage from local flora and camoflage netting. Evil [}:)] The Verlinden web site confounds me! Help! [:0]

It was probably left up to the local commanders, so anything you do to conceal your beast should be acceptable. The more I research the more I find how much variation existed.

just my $.02

At that scale, I would have thought you could find such a net in any hosiery shop, or borrow stuff from your wife or girlfriend... All that will be required is cutting it down to the size you need and paint it (spray!) the colour you want... I'd start with black diamond mesh suspenders..! Who said scale modeling had to be boring!?

Okay, either I'm giddy from lack of sleep at this late hour, or I just can't keep a straight face when I think about using panty hose on such a beast! (Why does the the broadway show "Cabaret" come to mind?" But you do bring up a good point. At 1/16, I have a variety of materials at my disposal. Thanks guys!

How about cheese cloth .... used in in 1/35 but with a little "adjustment" I think it would work just fine.

u can also try tulle ( used for bridal veils and ballet tutus ), but it might be too fine for 1/16... i'm not sure how tightly woven u need the fabric to be.

This is getting good.
Now I have a mental picture of a Tiger in panty hose and wearing a ballet tutu.
The Fuhrer would be so disappointed.

Now this is getting interesting! Shearmanfreak is having fantasies about Tigers and... well ok, I won't go there Big Smile [:D]

Okieboy, I don't think verlindens nets will work on the 1/16 tiger, they're geared for 1/35. But if you want to browse their stuff, on the home page go to "product listing" at the bottom of the page and from there it's broken into catagories. You could try looking for some kind of fish nets or "gill nets" or something like that. You might find something near to scale that way.

Let me know if you do find something for when I decide to start on mine!! Big Smile [:D]

I can't pass this up!! A tiger with panty hose wrapped around the tank at the level of the wheels, the tutu attached to the sponsons, of course, and a bridal veil billowing from the turret. Oh my...talk about sick and wrong!

Not pantyhose, fishnet stockings! Just need a garter belt.
Now, to protect the paint from bugs (Fireflies?) add a bra.

claymore, you are one sick puppy!! I love it! Let's make sure it's a black bra, though, so it stays camoflaged!!

Pantyhose? Garter Belt? Bra?

This just to show that girls can do this stuff, too.

You know, this whole discussion reminds me of a scene in one of Adam Sandler's movies "Little Nicky". Ok, so who here saw the movie and the scene when Hitler shows up for his daily punishment from the Devil himself? Evil [}:)] Remember what he was wearing? I laughed my... well you can guess!

As for the netting, I think that I'll try some fishnet hose and see how that works. Most tulle is too finely woven for a machine of this size. Now cheese cloth might also be a suitable option...Thanks ya'll Tongue [:P]
