photo etch kits????? help please
Posted by CTrill09 on Tuesday, August 5, 2003 10:33 PM
i dont know anything about this cause ive never worked them before, and i would like to start using photo etch sets, is it possible to use a photo etch kit that was intended for one companys product on another companies product. For example i have an Academy Hellcat and i was wonderin if the phot etch set for the AFV kit could be used on the Academy Kit, with a little creative ingenuity.

In some cases I would say yes ..... but I have heard through a couple of reviewers of these two kits that there is some big differences in their sizes. The AFV kit is a bit overscale and the Academy kit, a little under scale. I would still think that certain pieces would still be transferable though without too much trouble.

Listen to the voice. Robert is a very wise person. Some of these pe sets may work for some parts. Others will not have a chance. I have both the old and "new" versions of Tamiya's Kubelwagen (unbuild, of course) and Eduards PE set for the new one. There are not very many pieces useable on the earlier kit, and this is from the same manufacturer. Mayve someone on here has experience with this exact kit and can be of more help.

Good luck
