Your top 10 list?
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, August 11, 2003 12:22 PM
While we are on the subject, who, in your opinion, and in order please, makes the best kits?

What about the bottom 10 (or 5, I'm not sure there are that many makers around to do a top 10/bottom 10)

Best kits, best kits... It's all very subjective. Tamiya does the best engineered kits, but it does not do much for my tastes in modeling... I'd rather sweat blood and guts on any William Bros kits than on any (well, most) Tamiya ones...

So my top ten will include Heller, Sword, William Bros, Revell Germany, ESCI, Trumpeter, Roden, Italeri, Academy and Monogram. But that's without counting garage kits, so I'd have to add, Exokit, MMS, Fine Scale Factory, SHQ, Scale Link, Resicast, Commando5, Rhino Models, AlBy and S&S...

Least interesting, to me, and again it's not always a question of quality... Eduard, Verlinden, Frog, Revell-Germany pre-1990s, AMT/ERTL, Accurate Armour...

I agree with Domi's statement about the subjectivity of the question.

Tamiya makes some great kits, so does Academy, Italeri, and Dragon. They all also make some stinkers !!!!

With me as long as they build a Sherman or one of its variants, I like them !!!

Tamiya, AFV Club, Academy, Skybow, ICM, Revell-Germany, Italeri, and DML/Dragon would be my top 8 picks, although at times I would like to drop-kick Italeri and DML into the next county, as well as some of Tamiya's re-re-re-releases...at LEAST they could update and/or retool before releasing them again. Sheesh! As for bottom of the heap, I would have to go with AEF Designs, DML, Italeri, and Tamiya's re-re-releases.

I doubt I have even built that many companys. From Who I have built: Tamiya, Dragon, Hasegawa, Fujimi, Italeri, Monogram. Bottom of the list: Esci, Revell Monogram, Trumpeter.
