Thanks, Eric!

This is essentially what the Sherman looked like before I tried the repaint.
Your signature exemplifies exactly how I feel about that!

Another good one Brian!! You were being too hard on yourself over the Sherman too!! Both of them are outstanding!! You really brought out the detail with your weathering and drybrushing on it.

Thanks, Robert! As the Master of the Olive Drab Vehicle, your opinion always means a lot to me.

That Ordnance Models resin mantlet cover really is a well-sculpted piece. It attaches the same as on the real vehicle; from the cast piece welded to the rolled armor (you can see the weld line right in front of the Japanese flag). Just cut off the front of the turret along that line, and glue that big chunk of resin on, and BAM! Ya got a nice canvas mantlet cover (and nice cast armor texture, too!). Of course, the new Skybow M-41 kits come with a vinyl cover, and AFV Club sells the same piece separately for about 3 bucks now, so I doubt anyone would use the old Ordnance piece anymore.
Too bad, cuz it's very nice!

Nice again Brian. Really like the drybrushing on the canvas cover ... gives it a feeling of depth. Good luck with the building of the rest of the series.
Happy Modelling and God Bless Robert

JGSDF M-41 Walker Bulldog pix

Hi, folks!
Well, now that I have some decent pix of my junk, there ain't no stoppin' me from postin'!

This was my second Rikujo Jieitai (Japan Ground Self Defense Force) tank, after the Sherman, and was the second in a planned series of seven (five to go!) that includes the M-24 Chaffee, Type 61, Type 74, and Type 90 tanks, and the MLRS. Then there's the Type 89 Infantry Fighting Vehicle, too...OK, 8 that I have to do! 6 more to go!

Here's the M-41:

It's the oooooold Tamiya kit (about 6 bucks!!) with the Ordnance Models PE and resin mantlet cover sets. I also added the AFV Club tracks (belt type) that are sold separately, to replace the woeful Tamiya tracks.

I built this kit immediately after the JGSDF Sherman, so the colors and weathering were pretty much identical (the Sherman has since been redone and looks quite different now).

Now that I have the AFV Club M-41 sitting in the closet, it's time to make an American Bulldog!
