                        Paul, actually, I am planning to buy the M1A2 from DML but maybe I try see how this M1A1-HA works out. As I have said the details are very good on this one. It is just there is a lot of cleaning required. I finished the first set of roadwheels last night and there are a lot of injection marks/execesses on them.

                        By the way, the M1A2 does look pretty good. I'll try to ask the shop to have me look at the inside of the box. They usually allow me to do that even if I am not buying.

                        Just completed the Dragon M1A1. Got the kit couple years ago here in Belfast. Didnt have any figures with it (UK version). I am very pleased with it. No problems with fit, looks great. I see they are releasing an M1A2 Bagdad version ,with modern marines to boot. Can't wait to get these.look bloody good mate

                        Thanks for the tip, Rob.

                        It is actually my 2nd M1. The 1st one was from Academy. It was OK but not as detailed as this one. It was easier to build, however.

                        For a wash on the tracks, try a rust, burnt umber or dark brown color. I just uploaded some photos of an ancient M1IP in my motor pool. That old tank is covered in rust, and needs to go find a home in an M1A2SEP rebuild line ;)

                        I've always stated that the DML Abrams are a fidgety build, definitely not a box shaker like the Tamiya kit. It is more accurate and up-to-date than the Tamiya kit. If you're only going to buy one Abrams kit, I'd go for the Italeri kit, but the DML kits are good values and look great once completed.

                        Tigerman, thanks for wishing me luck. I guess, I will be needing a lot of it in this one. And tons of patience, too.

                        I was actually eyeing the Tamiya one but I read that DML's more accurate (and cheaper, too) so I picked up this one. Well, got to finish it anymway.

                        Hi Dwight. I checked that kit out and turned it down from all the examples you gave. After listening to comments on my post about Italeri's M1A2, I opted for that one. However, you asked a question that interests me as well about the wash for the tracks. I'm sure Maj. Rob or someone else can answer your question. Good luck on yours. Smile [:)]

                        I have just opened the M1A1-HA kit I bought a couple of weeks ago and started working on it. Overall it seems to be a good kit with sufficient details. It includes four tank crew figures.

                        However, it looks like a lot of cleaning (cutting and sanding) is required here. A lot of injection marks can be found specially in the indy track links. Molding lines here and there will probably need some attention. I just hope that the fit will not be a problem. So far I have worked only on 2 kits from DML (M4A4 & IS-2m) and I have encountered a lot of problems in fitting the components together.

                        Well, I have started painting the tracklinks. I used two colors on the tracklinks, desert yellow for the steel part and flat black for the rubber pads.

                        I am still thinking about the wash for this one. Any recommendation on the color of the wash will be greatly appreciated.

                        I will post pics when ready.
