Academy 1/25th Jagdpanther R/C kit...opinions?

Several are on eBay, with reasonable prices.

They claim working torsion bar suspension and individual track links.

Anyone know how good this kit really is?

I've built the motorized version, AD. It was REMOTE controlled, that is, a box with wires running into the bottom of the hull. The torsion bar suspension does indeed work, and the tracks are single-link, but heavy for the scale and not very accurate.

Tamiya re-released the Panther A kit a coupla years back, with a nice RADIO control package, but not the Jagdpanther.

Both the Panther and the Jagdpanther show their age, and there are lots of accuracy problems, but they are fun and easy kits to put together.

Here are pix of my Tamiya 1/25 Jagdpanther and Panther A:

Obviously the Jagdpanther hasn't been weathered yet at all (don't you love that shine?), but it gives you an idea of what the kit looks like.

I paid 10,000 yen ($84 US) for this kit here in Japan, but these were older, collectible kits.
But I built 'em!Wink [;)]

Tamiya kits are above $500. OUCH!! But I'd love to have one! Just bought an R/C M1a1. Cheap!! Threw a track on the carpet chasing the dog! 1/16 scale, sounds lights, the works. ( 2nd or 3rd childhood??) should I repaint it in desert camo and weather it?

500 bucks?? YIKES! Reckon I got a bargain! Maybe more recent re-releases go for a lot less.

13b20, is that the Doyusha M1? That's a big 'un, eh? They sold for 19,800 yen ($167 US) here.
I'm looking at a magazine right now that has a detailed and weathered Doyusha M1, and it looks pretty darn good! I'd say go for it!
