help with early fruil modellismo tracks.
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, August 24, 2003 10:56 AM
just got some fruil tracks at a model jumble.
i have used the new ones with the metal pins(boxed)but these where in a bag.they have hooks which need to be bent over, i presume.in the bag which was opened is a poorly moulded jig just one should there have been two,top and bottom and push together or do you just lay on jig and close hooks with small driver.do you then need to put a dab of glue on them, its looks like they could loosen.there seems to be the right amount of links just no instructions.have these sort been replaced now with the pin type.

Hi, Gazza!

Oooo, I've heard of those style of trax, but have never used them myself.

My experience with other types of link trax leads me to suggest ditching the jig. They've only been a hindrance in my experience (except for ModelKasten's Type 74 set).

I don't think you need to glue them once you bend them closed, unless you're gonna "vroom vroom" the kit around on the carpet! Should be strong enough without gluing.
Try a few and see if they are strong enough for your needs.

They are good tracks and are a little easier to put together than the new style of Fruil tracks. The trade off is that the older style has a tendency to come apart if they are handled and they sometimes come apart over a period of time. However, they give models "scale weight" which is really kewl...lol
