Sorry Jesse. Don't know what happened. Will try again. I won't bore everyone else by holding a one on one discussion here - will converse more by e-mail if it gets there!!

Hey Peter,

Never got that email. Recheck the email address. It's jmorgan_11@yahoo.com . My inbox is empty so everything should fit. It's it the same stuff as the web page Captain Caveman sent?

Thanks bud,
Jesse

PS. By the way, ever serve in the military? Just curious.

I don't know if it will help but try looking up the camp penelton web site.
2'nd Marine division(I think).
Email the PAO (public affairs officer).
They might be able to help you.

I lived a few miles away from the base.
Used to watch the war game manuvers up there.
It was very cool.
Good luck.

Thanks Jon. All the hours I spent downloading everything.... at least I can see it without having to log on!

Jesse. 1st e-mail sent.
I am building the original Tamiya kit, the one without the Cadillac Gage 40mm turret. Hope all this comes up. Some of the corrections I have done are:
1) drilled out head lights. Will fill with "Crystal Klear" Lens after painting
2) Corrected Headlight assembly fitting
3) Replace engine cover locking handles and missing lift handle on front of grill
4) Mesh covers over both large grills, with anti skid fittings added (this is a real mongrel of a job)
5) Added "post and large square" fittings in front of driver position
6) Added anti skid fittings to drivers side sponson cover and replaced skirts with thinner profile plastic sheet plus corrected bolt pattern
7) Driver's and Commander's Hatches -Completely reworked hinges and added all internal handles, etc
8) Inserted Mesh to the "figure 8" intake (needs a tube stack inserted if you do this)
9) Replaced all access handles including drilling out the port holes to insert Copper wire step, and added weld beads
10) detailed the gun turret -replaced air jacket and barrel on the M85 .50 cal, braces on smoke rack, hinge detail, periscope, etc
11) Drilled out all Vision blocks and replaced with clear plastic (cut up an old CD case and coloured it with clear blue/green paint)
12) Added Fire extinguisher handle
13) added detail to square airconditioner exhaust
14) added mesh to Exhaust stack fitting
15) replaced Top hatch hinge rail with brass rod and added missing Hinge fittings on hull.
8) Added Weld beads, Wiring loops to hatches/hull, etc
9) Replaced rear door handle on hatch and handle on tow rope rack as well as adding two missing fittings and making the recessed panel with 4 bolts that is missing
10) Scratch built the driver's interior (with the commander figure in place you can't see down his hatch, but you do with a driver
11) etc

Peter,

Thanks again. My email address is jmorgan_11@yahoo.com . It's fine to send the images there; that's my junk email. My inbox can hold 5 mbs, so could you please send the 889kb and 2.18mb files first. I'll let you know when I download them and delete so you can send the other two.

I'll make it a point when I do mine to leave the hull off until I'm done :-).

FYI, I was attached to amtrak as a combat engineer when I was in the Marine Corps. I love those big beasts. I lived in one for a week once. Did a lot of "splash downs" too (rolling off the back of ship in the water).

I can't wait to get started. By the way, which kit are you doing?

Thanks again,
Jesse

Just a quick extra - From experience you can't compress .jpg's - they end up the same size.

Also the LVTP is now known as the AAVP. A search of the net under this name may give you more.

Cheers

How about 889kb, 533kb, 3691kb and 2.18MB - The're big! I got as much info as I could to finish an LVTP7A I started years ago. Ever tried building an interior after the hull top is on? I feel like one of those guys that do ships in bottles.

If you want I can send them to you, but I have heard that you can open yourself up to all kinds of SPAM and stuff , publishing your email address. Can I suggest you open a separate hotmail account (free at www.hotmail.com) that will allow you to receive up to 2mb in emails.

I can break the attachments up into "bite sized chunks" and send them to the new address you post. Then I can give you time to clear the inbox before sending the next. Then you can let the account expire (or keep it for special use like I do). Hopefully, no one will bother to fill your inbox up!

Peter from Australia
PS It's 11.00 pm here and the wife just complained I am keeping her awake! Divorce costs a lot, so I'd better go.

I'll log on again tomorrow so be patient!

PPS - Can anyone tell me how you attach a picture to your posting in a forum?

Peter,
Thanks for the reply. Is it possible for you to email the pics to me? How big are the files? Could you compress them using WinZip? I really appreciate your help on this.

Thanks,
Jesse

I have a download off the old "AFV Interiors" site - wish it was still around! The pics are probably copyrighted, even though Mike said we could download it all before the site closed; so I can't post them here. Besides, the size is prohibitive anyway. I am happy to share for your use only. I also have some detail pics from another, no defunct site. I have it broken it all up into 4 separate files, but 2 are big because of the number of pictures.

I am an old modeller, but new to this forum stuff. I don't want a "million" emails sent to me asking for this, so how do I go about getting it to you? Some of it is set up as a word documents, to link the picture with the corresponding text, the others are just a series of .jpg's.

I am 99% finished on the detail and construction and just have to start painting. Be warned, if you wan't to do this properly, it is gonna be a big job!

G'day from down under

Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, August 26, 2003 10:31 AM
Hey all,

I'm starting a LVTP7A1 and could really use some resources. Anyone know any good websites or books? How about scale drawings? I really want scratch build the inside but I need some drawings or photos of the inside. Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Jesse
