Guys :

WHICH Sherman ? 56005 basic or 56014 loaded ?

The 56005 comes with the 'Type 1's' that are now discontinued . They had a problem of chewing up the plastic gear next to the steel final drive gear . We solved that by using the hard-to-get- HPC sets . It also came with the old metal tracks that you had to assemble .

The 56014 comes with the Type 2 , better engineered box , which has a lower ratio (closer to scale) , and it also has the new pre-assembled resin tracks . They are like the Tiger's , but the material seems a bit harder . Then again , thats irrelevant if you're planning on buying the cast metals tracks .

Go with the 56014 ... all those bells and whistles are worth it !

Roy

A friend of mine has the full Tamiya 1/16th Tiger Kit , R/C and all, which he built quite a while ago. From discussions he had with other R/C guys over here, the Tamiya system is supposed to have been designed as a fairly robust platform out of the box, so he went with that. He has not had any problems.

Whilst my friend has not done huge amounts of outdoor runs with it, he has given it plenty of indoor use. When he has used it at local comps and shows it has been a particularly spectacular draw card, for my armour club, to get people to move away from the displays by Aircraft modellers. The gun firing sounds, idling up sounds, etc that the kit has are so much more satisfying to hear than the buzz and wrrr of R/C cars and the Brrrp of R/C planes. Ever seen a tiger drive over a little R/C car?- wonderful to behold. Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

Hey Sherm,

Thank God someone's on line. Wink [;)] I've got a question or two for you... Do you happen to have a 1/16 R/C Sherman? I was wondering that if you did, what is the wear and tear on your monster? Do you have the stock gearbox, or did you upgrade? There are a lot of aftermarket choices out there for gearboxes and I'm curious as to whether or not they are worth it. I don't want to break my new toy. Black Eye [B)] I'm new to the R/C world and I'm trying to get educated.
