M198 155mm Howitzer
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, September 6, 2003 9:14 AM

Does anyone know of an M198 kit? I was a cannonear on them when I was in the Marines and I would love to find and build one but I have not had any luck in locating one.

Thanks,
Steve

The only one that I can find listed at all Steve is one by a resin company called Mini Art Studios from Hong Kong. Unfortunately, that's where my search ended. Can't really tell you quality, price, or even if they are still in business or not.

Maybe one of the Modern Treadheads can jump in here with some more info.
Happy Modelling and God Bless Robert

The only one I was aware of is a resin kit made in the Austraila-New Zealand area. I think it was fairly expensive ($100+).

I'm currently trying to decipher the instructions to a small towed 7.5cm infantry gun made in resin and photoetch. If something this small is difficult, I'd hate to try to tackle a resin kit of a gun as big as an M198. I've got a couple of the actual guns in my motor pool. Been trying to get rid of them though.

I'll trade ya my paladin for the 198, I'd love to work on one of those as opposed to the 109. To damned many things to go wrong on a paladin, and the 198 is just to easy!
Think you can ship it APO? haha

Ribbit, Ribbit!!! Sorry about the towed (toad) joke. I'd look at any site that has "AFV" kits on them. You may have to go over seas or do alot of sifting to find them. But, they are out there. ( at least I think I remember seeing some!)

If anyone finds a plastic 1/35 m198 (is that specific enough?) then let me know! That would almost finish out my USMC inventory.
A day in the Corps is like a day on the farm; every meal is a banquet, every paycheck a fortune, every formation a parade... The Marine Corps is a department of the Navy? Yeah...The Men's Department.
