Posted by mandrake on Sunday, September 7, 2003 1:53 PM

Hi there, i have been looking for WWII vehicles in 1/48, i have found some resin jeeps (SOL, VERLINDEN and PROPAGANDA KOMPANY) and some plastic ones (BANDAI), but what is the difference between one or the other, what would you guys prefer? i have only build resin jeeps and they are fine to me, i just bought on EvilBay 2 Bandai jeeps to try and compare, any comments???....

Big Smile [:D]

As I remember them, the Bandai kits were quite well detailed and designed for their tme. If you can find them, get them! 1/48 and 1/50 are making a comeback in terns of AFVs. Academy have released a number of plastic kits at that scale though I think they are re-boxing of Zenghdefu kits which are not particularly accurate. The fact that they come with a little engine shows that they are first toys rather than models. Other than Bandai, quality AFV stuff in 1/48 and 1/50 is the realm of 'garage' manufacturers. Airfield Accessories in the UK (via Matador Models), and Gasoline in France have some great resin kits available for instance. Des Kit is yet another French manufacturer that deals with that scale. Resin kits are pricey, particularly so in France unfortunately...

Yes, i have got two Bandai Jeeps and one Gasoline truck, is a Ford V3000S ( by the way i havent been able to find enough references ), the Gasoline truck is a very detailed model, and i am waiting for my Bandai Jeeps. I have only done resin vehicles and i bought the Bandai models to try something else, i will keep looking for the maufacturers that you are telling me about and i will show you the Jeeps and the Truck as soon as it is done!
