T31 Demolition Tank Update...
Posted by djmodels1999 on Monday, September 8, 2003 5:45 PM
Now, I know why I had not built any freaking Shermans in nearly 20 years...! Dead [xx(] So many tiny weeny little bits all over the thing! With the poor modlings associated wth this particular Fujimi kit, that meant lots of brand new little parts!

Here's another view of the turrett later in the day...

The problem was, Robert, that not only the details are poor but the two halves of the molds must have been slightly mis-aligned. All the little bits, horn, lights, railings, hooks,.. were just good for the garbage can. All had to be re-done...

And that is actually two days, maybe up to 14 hours of 'work' in there already. Should be completed soon. The hull has already been primed. I'll detail the turret today.

Ahh! The 'Space Modulator'... I have fond memories of that one...

Anyway, Brian, the T31 main armament was two T94 7.2in rocket launchers. Each had a revolver kind of launcher with 5 rockets, an additional minimum of 20 more rockets carried on-board. The central gun was in fact a dummy. Then there are 4 machine guns: 2 on the turret, 1on the front glacis (those are .30), and the last one on the roof of the turret (a .50).

Apparently, there was provision for a flame thrower unit to be installed somewhere... [:0]

What a nightmare!

Marvin!
I knew you'd get that reference, DJ!

Very interesting vehicle. Any insight on how it was used, or was to be used?

I believ the intended purpose was against fortified positions.
It would be much safer to send one of these against a pillbox
than a man with a satchel charge.
The flame thrower could have used the dummy gun barrel?
