Is this a good kit of a Firefly? Is there a crew that comes along with it?

it's fairly good. no crew and has the finiky indy tracks. to make it shine really all it needs is a new barrel.
Any thing can be fixed with enough gun tape and para cord

Hi Tankluver,
I've just finished this kit. It's a fun build execpt for the tracks. Like Curtis stated, Very finiky.
I also believe that the suspension is incorrect for this particular vechile. I opted to replace the kits barel with a metal one. There are no figures included.
I'm not expert on shermans, but I think it's pretty good for an older kit.
I've got a post of it in the diorama forum "Sherman Firefly Dio"  in case you're interested (shameless plug Wink [;)]).

Cheers.

Hi TL: to Dragon's credit, they'll keep going back to old kits and try to fix them.  DML has put out three Firefly VCs in 1/35 scale.  Their latest is #6182.  6031 is one of their earlier efforts and has  a good list of problems.  Of course no kit is perfect -- it's a judgement call.  If you are 1) willing to ignore its inaccuracies or 2) fix its inaccuracies or 3) can get it VERY, VERY cheap and 4) don't think you'll ever treat yourself to the stunning (but expensive US$55) Tasca Firefly -- then go for it.

The VVS bogies are bogus -- from the Italeri M4A1, with incorrect (for the Firefly) upswept return roller arms.  Its turret needs tweaks, its barrel needs replacement.  Some soft detail -- and its hull tub is too long.  For a list of fixes, go here:

http://mmcalc.tripod.com/Shermans/Model_FAQ/Modeling_the_M4A4-Firefly.html

Of course, if you want a quick decent build, by all means go for it.  However, in this day and age of many, many accurate kits, I'd pass on old 6031 personally.

My post was from 2007.  Funny thing is I never ended up building ANY DML M4A4s or Fireflies --- I've completed the Tasca/Asuka M4A4 (and have another one started).    In Aug 2010, this M4A4 with mine plow was published in MilMod

But if you want specific guidance on your DML kit, go look up Mike Canaday's tweaks list on www.archive.org --- (as it's no longer an active link).  Or contact me directly w/questions  superpershing@gmail.com
