Since you left for Saipan, we haven't heard from you. I do recall from the "Everyones age" thread that your birthday is 9/20, so I'll take a sec to wish you a happy 4-0! Tongue [:P]

Hi, folks!Smile [:)]
Thanks for all the great B-Day greetings! You really know how to make a guy feel good.

And what a great birthday it was! Once I came to grips with the fact that I was now 40 (where, oh where does the time go?), the honey and I went down to the gorgeous Saipan beach, after which I went and took a few more pix of a Type 97 Chi-ha tank, then some more shopping before departure.

At the airport, I asked if we could get emergency exit seating (I am J-Hulk, after all. Too big!) and lo and behold, they upgraded us to first class! Thank you, Japan Air Lines! I only wish the flight had been longer. It's only 3 hours from Saipan to Japan! Such a short time to enjoy all that amenity...Wink [;)]

Thus, a great birthday! And the first time I've ever had it in America and Japan on the same day! (Saipan is a US territory)

Again, thanks for all your birthday wishes!Smile [:)]

Now, I got a whole heckuva lotta catching up to do in these here forums...Big Smile [:D]

Why thanks, Frosty!
Still coming to terms with 40...

Laxman!
I've been meaning to commend you for your Jack Handy quote. That is some seriously funny stuff!
Akihabara is in Tokyo, and I'm in Osaka. A 7 hour drive by car! (3 hours by Shinkansen).
I've been there many times, though, when I lived in Tokyo. What a cool place! Not just electronics, either. PLENTY of cool hobby shops, too.

A comparable area in Osaka is in Nipponbashi, called Den-Den Town ("den", short for "denki" (elecricity), or "denki seihin" (electronic products), repeated as "den-den" for cutesy Hello Kitty effect). That's where Tamiya World, Hobbix, Yellow Submarine, and other great hobby shops are.

Ya'll come on by sometime, I'll take ya on over!

How fun would it be to shop at some place called "Tamiya World"!! One question, though...do they sell Hasagawa there?? LOL

Have a great day, Brian;

No, no Hasegawa on the 3 floors that are "Tamiya World," but they sure do sell it in the same building! Tamiya World is part of a huge hobby complex called Super Kid's Land: 6 floors of sheer hobby madness!!!!Tongue [:P]
