Tiger I Mid Pro Pics in progress...
Posted by Moses on Wednesday, September 24, 2003 10:24 PM
This post is in teh Mid Pro build group, but wanted to post in a seperate topic to get some other feed back. Any help to improve the model are appreciated.

OK, after working on this Tiger I for a while, I think I am ready to post a few pics. Everything is done, including the drive sprokets, idler wheels, road wheels, etc..but I didn't picture them (because we all know what they look like Wink [;)]). I paint my wheels and tracks seperate from the model so, I haven't attached them yet. I still have some cleaning up of the zim to do on the gun mantlet, as well as fill in some spots on the rear end. The zimmerit was made in the usually way...with Tamiya Polyester Putty. These pics are definately still work in progress. Any opinions are very welcomed..it makes us better modellers Wink [;)]

Cheers

Hey Moses,

Very good build. Nice ZIM, wow. You're indeed YODA of the ZIM.

Have you seen Shermie's Revenge lately?

More pics.

Rob, your still the jedi-master of zimmerit, I mean the force is with you. Tongue [:P] Seriously, it's looking great. How do you get the seperation between the rows of zim so perfect? You make it look so easy, it makes me ill. Wink [;)] Thanks for sharing your pics.

Looking good there Moda....I mean Moses.

The zim job makes me very envious. Forgive my ignorance, but I havn't heard of this tan coloured Tamiya Polyester Putty. Is this the same as the grey stuff?

If not, I better go pester my supplier for some if this is the result (with a good dose of skill of course) you can get from it.

What do you use to scribe the putty?

Keep up the "Excellent Work Dude".

Happy Modelling

Moses,

Awesome zim !!! Awesome job !

Some people like to beat up those fenders and exhausts for wear & tear. If thats not the look you are going for,

Don't touch it - put the paint on!

Great job

Thanks guys. Like I said some work still has to get done on the front and rear of the Tiger.

Petbat, Polyester Putty is different then the Basic Putty, and you should be able to get it out any good hobby store. The Zim is made with Tamiya's Zimmerit Applicator.

Once I clean a few things up, I'll prime it, and do some preshading. That should be done in a few months knowing my track record Wink [;)]

Thanks again guys.

Cheers

Thanks Moses

Most retailers in my neck of the woods only stock the basics and none carry the putty you use. The Armour hobby has a reasonable following in Queensland, Australia but most of the hardcore guys are in other states.

Aircraft is always the big money spinner here so the retailers cater more to them and don't extend their range of products for armour (in fact one of the bigger ones here is getting out of 1/35th scale figures altogetherSad [:(]).

I did pick up a few of the figure kits as clearance items though - couldn't pass up a genuine 50% reductionSmile [:)]

There a couple of guys that go the modelling club I go to, and I will see if they can get some in. I am sure when the other guys from the club check out this thread, and see what you have done, they will want some too. Have seen the Tamiya Zim tools and have passed them up as a gimmick -guess I should not have been so hastyBlush [:I]

Thanks again, and keep up the postings. I am enjoying them immensely.

Happy Modelling

i have a wittman normandy tiger i zimm'd a while back and i now feel like throwing it away!!Disapprove [V]...in fact the only reason i don't is all the SS guys i've got sitting on it - they look quite cool in their camo!Smile [:)]
i must confess i just bought some r*sin zimmerit (that is a swear word, right?!), because i know my own feeble efforts are just that, feeble!!
