A fun movie!

Of course, in real life, Peiper rolled his eyes when given the heavy panzer battalion, and put them at the back of the column, so the ponderous beasts would not get in the way.

It's a great opportunity though for fans of American armor to see lots of it, upclose and personal -- especially M47's.

It's got to be one of the worst historically inaccurate WW2 movies. Good shots of the M47s though.

Yeah, I know it's nowhere near accurate. But in this case I'm making an exception since heavy metal
will be putting rounds down range!

The Battle of the Bulge has been mentioned many times in the past and I echo Rob's comments. Laughable, but tolerable.

Hey where else are you going to see Telly Savalas get the girl, sort of. Or at least have a love interest?

Telly was a dog! Even in real life he was a dog in his social life. I still think of him as Maggot in The Dirty Dozen. Great cast, great flick. Cool [8D]

Someone say the magic words?
"Battle of the Bulge??"
I believe they did!

As many of you well know, whenever that magnificenlty flawed film is mentioned, I am compelled to post some pix of my old Italeri M-47 "Hessler's King Tiger!"
So here we go:

Man, I love that old flick!
Set aside your penchant for accuracy and bask in the glow of tanks tanks and more tanks!

And who doesn't love Robert Shaw?

I love Robert Shaw, great actor. He will forever be Quint in Jaws, one of my favorite movies. Another inaccuracy, why did they have a Brit play the lead role of a German?

HA HA HA!!!! Brilliant! I love it. Does the figure look like Shaw? Hard to see from the pics.

Go ahead and knock the movie, but how many of us didn't first gain our admiration for the Tigers from that dumb movie?

Did they modify the M47's in any way, besides painting them grey? (Grey?!?!?!?)

I have the movie on tape but, I missed it last night on TV (I was at work)

I did however come home and watch the episode "Bastogne" from Band of Brothers. Great DVD set!

Glad you liked it, Larry!Big Smile [:D]
No, the figure looks nothing like Shaw, unfortunately. I tell myself he's the stunt double you can ocassionally see in the film in place of Shaw (although the figure doesn't look like that guy, either!). He's just from the Tamiya "German Tank Crew at Rest" set, and I simply swapped a head to get the right Hessler-esque jacket-cap combination.

Gotta finish Guffy's "Sherman"...
