Mine had a different color tracks (black) but the rest of the AFV Club M88A1 was molded in sand. My Revell M88A1G1 was molded in dark green and included dark green Revell parts.

Thanks for your information, Rob. So AFV CLUB has both Name M88 and M88A1? Can you tell what version is this one? (it was built 6 years ago by the same modeler) :

If it's the M88A1, it can be built into desert version, right?

Yes, this is the M88A1 version. The main difference externally between the two versions is the presence of the auxillary power unit (APU) that is called "Little Joe". It is located on the right rear side of the crew compartment. In your overhead photo, you can see the diagonal piece that covers where the APU exhaust is.

Here is a close up of the feature I talk about.

Many thanks for your kind comments. Now I want one more M88 in sand color if I find another one (not A1G, but the M88 Vietnam).

The M88 Vietnam version would not be the proper one to build in sand. That's the old "gasser" or gasoline engined one used during the Vietnam era. There's four versions of this basic kit, the Nam M88, modern M88A1, Revell of Germany M88A1G and now the AFV Club M88A1G. I don't know the difference between the RoG and AFV A1Gs. Revell added some Bundeswehr parts and included both modern and Nam bits that AFV only includes in one kit or the other.

Thanks, glad you like it.

The decals I made on my computer and printer with decal paper.  I think there were options for a sand M88A1 in the kit, I just don't remember which unit they were for.  I made these for a specific 4ID unit.  This model was a gift for a friend and it was his unit.  The Echelon ones would work fine though as well.

The hatches are sufficiently detailed to leave them open for figures.

Good luck.

Hey thats exactly the one i wanted to build. The sand coloured with US markings as oppose to German. Did the decals come in the box or did you have to source them from some where else? ie: Echelon?

Its very nicely done!

I've also got a recent obsession with adding figures to my kits. Are the hatches detailed enough to have them in the open position?

Sure....

More here.

I have built one in NATO 3-tone Camo as well, with a full scratch interior, but don't have any pics of it.

How did you find the overall kit? Any issues with parts coming together etc?

He has no idea since he doesn't build them, just buys them built.  I have built the AFV Club M88A1 version (which the basic kit is, with added German parts).  It goes together well and has no real issues.  It is a great kit.

Nice work on the M88. I quite like the look of it. How did you find the overall kit? Any issues with parts coming together etc?
