I love the german Hanomag Sdkfz251/1. It is by far my favorite half track. Im just curious who else likes half tracks. Am I alone or are there others?

I've got some interest in that too... If you like the 251, check out

www.panzer-modell.de

and check their reference section, particularly their photo-archive section and look at those 251 with T-34 and hotchkiss turrets..!

I like the French half-tracks, such as the Unic 107 and the Somua MCG. I've builf a few of the Unic, including in its German versions, and I'm currently working on a Somua range

I've made a Half-dozen or so, American and German. My neighbor when I was a child was the gunner in An M17 (quad .50 AA). Noticed a half track Kubelwagen, Hmmmm.

I love 'em too! It's what got me interested in armor. I'm currently building the tamiya Hanomag Sdkfz251, not sure which version (I believe it's Ausf D) but it's the one with the two machine guns. I plan on doing it in desert camo. Check this link out for some great 251 and other German halftracks:

Lot's of pics but sometimes not all are available so you will have to go back and check again. Halftracks are cool! Cool [8D]

What ever happened to halftracks? Why aren't they made any more as APC's

Also what are thouse German Motorbike/halftrack things called. Like the one used in "Saving Private Ryan" to lure the Tiger down the street in.

The halftrack motorcycle was the Kettencrud (SP?) and was originally designed to be an aircraft tug. Some halftracks are still in use some in South America were re-engined in the late 80's but I can't remember which country. Ours were simply replaced by the M113.
