Nice job on the kit, especially the weathering. The interior looks fairly accurate as well, I've been debating on "going crazy an pulling all the stops" on an AAV, but haven't talked myself into coughing up the $$$ that those Hobbyfan AM parts go for.
As I've spent the last 15+ years aboard these contraptions I have to point out a couple discrepancies. The inside of the topside hatches are either solid dark green, or on rare occasions may be tan dependent on level of attention at its last rebuild or repaint, but majority are green. The cammie net bag can not be stored in that location, that is against the exhaust outlet and would wind up melting the plastic bag and causing damage to the net. They are usually toted atop in the rear, but more often in a threat environment it is carried in the side sponson (aka gypsy racks) racks so it doesn't block vision to the direct rear when embarked personnel have their little noggins poking out providing security or air watch. Almost all strapped on gear is stowed or carried in the sponson racks, or strapped to them, it is also sometimes strapped to the front handrails. Especially water jugs, as those are very important and we prefer not chancing just hanging them off a rail. It can not be carried in the fashion represented along the sides of the vehicle below the hatches or turret because there are no tie downs in those locations. A way to store gear there though, during OIF I we ran large transport style cargo straps from the rear of the sponson rack to the forward hand rails. In the event the tractor was hit and immobilized, or through mechanical default, the straps could be loosened and all gear transferred to another tractor (aka bump plan) in the least amount of time allowing the unit to maintain momentum. I am not saying it can't be done, but I have never seen that much stuff strapped to the side of a turret. Usually there is one 40mm box strapped to the side, the vehicle commander/gunner normally keeps things like maps, map pens, binos, and that sort of stuff in the box because there isn't really any room within that turret. I have seen tractors strap track blocks to the side on occasion, but that is rare. We actually strap minimal stuff as possible, it takes time to strap it up, requires straps that are always a scarce commodity, and takes that much more time to get down.
Below is a link to a couple of my photobucket albums, one is all AAV-7s. I need to load more pics from OIF I, as those tractors represented "Clampet-mobiles" like never before. The second are pics of the LVTA5 at the unit and some shots provide good comparison to todays amphibians.
Once again I applaud and admire your work, as a tracker I gotta point out the minor boo boos.
