Bill,

Just pullin' your leg(s), I'd imagine, judging from the M10 on my shelf, that this will be a nice kit! I talked to a few old fellows who did the M10A1 to M36 conversion at Massey-Harris in Racine WI (USA ... no, it's not near Utah), and they said the conversion work was interresting, but really, really difficult and dirty.

At a glance it looks good Bill .... certainly on my list of items to get when it is released here. From what I have heard it comes with a couple of different options on which version you may want to build. Different glacis plates, one with and the other without the hull machine gun. Should be a decent kit.

So the B model came before the one without a designator! Kind of like the Panther D coming before the A, I guess. What's with these designers?? lol

Aaahh, so the M36 B1 (with the Sherman hull) was fielded first, followed by the M-10-hulled M36? I see!
Thanks for that info, Robert.
Greatly appreciated!Big Smile [:D]

So Robert, how does the Academy box art look? Does it seem close to being right?

Hello, gentlemen (any ladies here today?). Smile [:)]
Please allow me to take this opportunity to confirm what I think I know about the M-36. Dunce [D)]
There where two versions, right? One with an M4 chassis and hull (like the Italeri kit), the other with the M-10 business (like the Tamiya and this new Academy kit), both with the same turret equipped with a 90mm gun. Yes?
And both were both called the M-36 Jackson, right? Interesting!

Ron, Guess we'll have to trust to Robert and his ilk to let us know the relative merits and accuracy of this one, I guess. It looks like an M36 to my untrained eye, but I'm not a Shermanaholic! (But I'd like to be, and I'm working on it!!)

Have a good one;

Gotta be careful with Academy though! Remember, they still list their M60A1 with reactive armor and a dozer blade as an M728 CEV! Y'never know what they might consider to be an M36Wink [;)]!

That is just great. How I wish it is true. Thanks for the info Sherm. I perhaps should watch out for it.

It is just unfortunate that I already spent my hobby budget for November on a British Challenger 2, M1A2 and Leopard 2A5.

Come December, maybe.

Any chance of anyone who gets this kit showing us some pics of an opened box so we can see the pieces parts?

Buy Acadamy or wait for AFV Club? Come on guys, anything has to be better than the old Tamiya and Italeri kits. Anyway, I'm sure Shermie would buy both anywayTongue [:P]

Sherm, does this mean I should shelve my proposed Yugaslav M36 on the old Tamiya kit (with the rubber RPG shields to hide the many faults)/Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

Agree 100% Trevor ..... this one should have been quickly done on the heals of the others that were released by both Academy and AFV.

Since I'm in the process of building Academy's M10 and looking at the pictures of the M36. I don't understand why it's taking so long to release the M36. The M10 kit already has most of the parts in the box to make up the minor differences for the M36 hull. All they had to do was make a turret, how hard could that be?
Trevor Where am I going and why am I in this handbasket?

From what I've read, one M40 was assigned during W.W.II for trials. Also one M43, which had the same configuration but used the 8 inch howitzer instead of the 155mm was also given a whirl.

AFV, like Academy, have been talking about the Jackson for a while now.

True. The Sherman family vehicles are pretty nice. I didn't like the Stuart interiors though. Way off target in so many respects.

Here's the pic of the overhead view of the completed kit .... the interior of the turret looks much better than the Italeri offering.

I AM all warm and fuzzy.
I was starting to think I was going have to kit bash the Academy M10 and Italeri M36 to make one.
