A surprise in the mail...
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, October 2, 2003 1:33 PM
I won this auction on eBay about a month ago and totally forgot about it. I saw this and in all my German armor searches, I had never seen this produced by Tamiya. Of course it was one of the, "Gotta Haves"

J-Hulk,

Is this a release that you have seen?

Hmmm, At least part of the boxtop is in English. How do they box the Tamiya stuff over there, Brian? Do they have different boxes than here that are all in Japanese??

Nice find! They're restoring one (wood cab) at the Patton Museum... nice little things, cute, cool, fun to drive (I'd imagine!)

Enjoy making it! Post scans when you're done!

Awesome Eric! I've been looking for an Italari kit of that. Have you opened it up and checked it out yet? Is it the Italari or did T do one of their own?

Eric

This thing is brand new from Tamiya. It may still be the old Italeri kit, but I just saw it at www.best1hobby.com for $31.90

Tamiya boxes Italeri kits for sale in Japan. This is most likely the Italeri kit with the new Tamiya fuel barrel set.

Rob, I think you are right. In addition to the Steyer RSO, there is also a Mercedes truck and the Puma, both of which look too much like the Italeri offerings.

I didn't have too much time to examine it. I hurried to take a pic and then off to work.

I'll have to look at the bottom of the hull and see if Italeri is stamped on it.

I helped my son build the Italeri kit, but it came with a pak 75. Neat model, but needs indy tracks.

Don't you love that. You order it and you keep track for a little while . Then you just kind of forget it.

Then, out of the blue it shows up on your door -just like christmas in July - total surprise !

Erock - there's a bunch of cool aftermarket conversions for that from a variety of different companies.

Good luck

Howdy, Folks!Smile [:)]
Yup, it's Italeri alright. Last May or so Tamiya released 4 "Italeri Military Models with Tamiya Taste" (I guess that means with the added jerry can sets and figures!).

Besides the Steyr Erock scored, they also reboxed an Sd.Kfz. 234/2 Puma, a Mercedes Benz L3000 truck, and a Kfz. 15 Horsch (sp?).

That looks like the same packaging as I've seen here. There's still plenty of Japanese on it, from what I can see!

Does it say "Made In Italy" in the lower righthand corner?
