The Marines tended to apply various paint schemes on their tanks. Probably because constant use in the salt water and humidity of the Pacific was very conducive to rust. They needed to cover bare metal more frequently to prevent rust. Being the stepson of the Navy and not a part of the Army, they most likely applied whatever colors they could get their hands on. They had some of the neatest camo patterns used by the US forces.

Just picked up a copy of Ospreys book "how to model the Sherman and Tiger Tank". The examples of The Marine Shermans In use in the PTO are excellent. My question; Were those paint schemes actually used or are they conceptual? I ahve never seen these schemes before. Maybe the Shermanfreak can give me the proper 411. Thanks again.
