Modern Gun Trucks
Posted by FITTER on Wednesday, October 8, 2003 11:44 AM
I just spotted these pics at another site. Forgive me if it has already been posted here.

Evidently, it is still in the development stage. This might make for an easy/fun kit conversion. I think it might look better with a 20mm Vulcan on top...

Sorry... for some reason, I couldn't link the pics from that site, so I had to place them on my own host site for display here.

There they are .... some sites are like that.

They kind of remind me of the vehicles that were produced in South Afirca. They would make an interesting build.

Looks a lot like the South African security vehicles. They are spending a lot of time building this thing. There are a lot of flaws in it. There is not enough clearance between the rear duals and the bottom of the old APC shell. The APC will not stop an RPG round. Another thing is the weight factor. The five ton M800 series truck tractor that is the basis for the truck is rather light when you consider the ammo and equipment that will be needed. Hopefully they will at least arm the vehicle with a couple of fiftys. and a mark 19 grenade launcher as a minimum. the mini gun would be nice but is a very hungry gun. You would need at least one of these trucks per 12 cargo trucks to be effective. I still beleive that it would be (has been proven effective)better to use the drop in gun box that will fit any cargo truck. Besides why go to all this trouble when the army can use the V150's or newer variant which are airconditioned and designed for this task.

We have some armored vehicles used by banks here that looks like that. So you can imagine what kinds of criminal they are preparaing against. I agree would be an interesting build.

Thanks for the pics.
