Well my wife is just to good to be true. After finding me on my hands and knees looking for a PE part that got away from me she went and bought a white Shower Curtain and put it under my modeling tableApprove [^] and I have not lost another model part since then, has saved me HOURS of searching (cause I have big fat clumsy handsBig Smile [:D] )

Thanks

Be careful.....you start laying plastic down around the room somebody's going to think your going to make a hit.

Pretty cool idea. Think of the carpet or floor you'll save if you spill some paint or glue.

Another idea could be putting an old white flat bed sheet under your work area.
I have a model room with a cement floor. When I drop something on the floor and
can't 'see' it Iget out the broom and dust pan and just about every time find whatever it is I'm looking for!

Give her a kiss for the great idea!

Believe me I did, problem with a bed sheet is that it makes moving in the chair I have in there difficult, the plastic is actually pretty easy to move around on because it sticks on the carpet well and not on the chair legs, which are wood

Never thought of the shower curtain, but met the same prob with the sheet. Only problem with the white curtain is when you scratch with white plastic it is still invisible. Maybe I should buy two curtains, one dark and one whiteBig Smile [:D]

All my wife every suggested to me, due to the number of times I've dropped parts (particularly the scratched built ones), was one of those baby bibs that are made of plastic and the bottom is curled up to catch food. Not a good look I would thinkTongue [:P]

Happy Modelling

My wife bought a painters canvas dropcloth (small one) for use under my workbench. It seems to be just right for being able to find all the junk I drop during a build, expecially the clear plastic parts that usually go "crunch" when I looked for them before. :)

Nice idea, but it won't work....for me. My pieces would go under the dropcloth, or miss it altogether. Just my luck... LOL!

Petbat,
i think i saw a 'bib' that extends from the neck to the underside of the table.
(must be connected to the bottom edge of the table?)
was advertised as something jewelers use.
not a very flattering look, but very practical.
:-)

Miller,

It's good to see you have great support for your habbit hobby

Just be careful, Renarts may be right - that's why she's so supportive

If that was me, Miller, you'd have to do the whole room and up the walls- with some of the "PE PLINGS" I have had, (you know when you have a small piece in a set of tweezers and next thing you know - you look down - PLING - and the piece is gone into oblivion and all you heard was the sound of the tweezers hitting together)there's no way you could have a drop cloth big enough

Good Luck

Build, I think somebody coined that as being called a tweezerpult??

WildW, I saw that apron thing, too. Not something you'd want to wear for an FSM photoshoot, for sure! I think they were for sale from ModelExpo.

Bill - Is that what they call it - didn't know it had a technical name. Thanks

I think I might be in the running for the world record for Tweezerpulting

Wasn't my term. Wish it was, but it was someone out here that came up with it. My only contribution has been Wehrmacht '46!! lol

My wife thinks a model isn't chalanging enough for me unless I've spent 2 hours on my hands and knees looking for parts.
Thanks for the ideas

My wife thinks if I have to be on my hands and knees I could better be doing it on the kitchen floor:-)

Losing parts is just half the fun of modelling, right? I love it when something zings away across the room after I snip it. I enjoy spending hours on a model only to lose a critical detail part.... story of my life .

I dont think a shower curtain would help me. It seems my lost pieces are the ones that just fly away. I hear them hit one or two things somewhere in the room, but at that point its too late... oh well.

One day I can collect all the stray pieces and building something with them.
