Mori parts
Posted by wipw on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 3:11 PM
Brian,

I found out that Mission Models is the distributor for those Mori am parts for the E and others in the United States. They really look great. They are a bit pricey, but you (usually) get what you pay for. Can't find anything about the barrels, though.

Thanks

Bill

Glad to see the Mori Artisan parts are making it overseas.
Too bad about the barrels.

Yeah, the radiators for the Panthers look great.
Does the mantlet for the E have that much more detail to it? Is it mor accurate shape wise, or what. I haven't compared the mantlet from the kit with the picure of the Mori part, yet, but I will.

I got one hull side glued onto the bottom last night. How in the world I'm going to glue the hull top down though, I have no idea. Not much room to work in there considering the length of that thing! I compared it to my PzKfw II last night, and the turret is about the same size, only bulkier. The E is about twice the length of the II. Wow! What a tank!

Yup, ol' E's a monster, all right!

The Mori mantlet is much more accurate in shape and thickness than the kit part (based on the Maus mantlet), and it's very nicely molded with cast and cut textures.
If you look at the pix of my E, I think the differences are fairly obvious. I added the lifting eye, though.

Glad to hear you've cracked into the big fella! The hull is pretty narrow, eh? I guess they were keeping transportation in mind. With the skirts and those monster tracks taken off, it's not all that wider than a Jagdtiger. Well, yeah, it is, but still, they were thinking!

Any ideas on what if any mods you're gonna do? How about a paint scheme?

Mods, I don't know about yet. The new mantlet looks like a great option. I may order it and a set of MK tracks for the Tiger next payday. As for paint, I've got quite an (to me) interesting idea. But it'll have to be a surprise!
