HUMMV w/ smoke generator
Posted by 7474 on Thursday, October 23, 2003 3:52 PM
I graduated from AIT in the Army last month. My MOS is 54B, Chemical Operations (NBC). Part of my MOS is to use Hummers with smoke generators on the bed. We have turbines that blow smoke (M-56) and an older one that looks like a cylinder with a cow glands on the back end. I have photos taken, with an M-16 used for scale. I was wondering if any one has any idea on how to scrap build a smoke generator, and how to scale it fit a kit that is out there. I mainly build airplanes, and this will be my first time with a vehicle. thanks

I once built a Stinger cage for Tamiya's M998 using plastruct L shaped beams. It was my first attempt at scratch building anything (I still have it - but I'm not showing it off). I didn't have the actual measurements of the cage when I started (big mistake!!) so, I scaled down my pictures to match that of the M998 model and went from there. In the end it turned out very close to scale - I got lucky I think!

So, go back and take some really good measurements of your equipment and then figure out what it works out to the scale you are building in and go from there.

Allow for mistakes and take your time. Measure twice and cut once! Good Luck!

I'm sure alot of people would be interested in the photos. Plastruct & Evergreen pake tons of shapes & sizes of Styrene to scratchbuild with.
