Afv Club Sd.Kfz 11

I built this kit, too, and I agree AFV Club is going to be one of the premier model makers on the market. However, I agree the track, while among the best detailed I have seen, are stiff and too long. On my kit I used ModelKasten tracks, which unfortunately didn't fit the sprocket. I found, though, the Tamiya Sdkfz 251 sprocket will fit the ModelKasten tracks, and also fits well on the AFV Club kit axle.

Must be honest,never had much experience with am parts.Curious to give it a go though,everybody else seems to these days.I have a wardrobe full of unmade kits & so little time to make any.Just a half hour or so when I can .Takes me ages to finish anything.

Sulo. Scale Effect is a retailer that can be reached via the second link that the Captain gave. Jamin of Scale Effect is known to me (goes to my club every month) and keeps a good stock and at really good prices. I can recommend him based on my experience. I haven't used the others, but maybe someone else out there can endorse them too.

Thanks for all the replies everybody.Never had much to do with writing to forums before so I appreciate the prompt replies.In the heat of battle I missed the review about the idler til it was too late so not an option.Think I might have to either search further for am tracks [not always easy to find in the wilds of Australia] or conceal the gap with some well placed scale vegetation.

Sulo, take Shermies advice on moving the idler. I'm sure I read a review that said to take care with the placement of the idler or you would have the problems you have.

Have you painted the track? Normal poly glue won't stick through hobby paint (it actually melts plastic together, it doesn't stick the parts together. If you are going to glue tracks use cyano, or glue them before painting.

have you tryed superglue or try a bit of wire and do your best to hide it or if your realy stuck there indy tracks

About the only option you have left Sulo, is to slide the idler wheel forward a touch to compensate for the lack of length. Unless you want to go with a set of AM tracks, I think they make a set that will fit that kit.
