Peter- I agree totally. I have some of those jerry cans, just did'nt do any up for it yet. As far as all the other stuff , I'm still learning alot about armor in general and even more about german. I am still looking at pics to get ideas of stuff to make for it. Probally not totaly done with these yet and the idea shermanfreak had of a dio of the U.S. driving by the abondoned 251 sounds like it could be a nice one to do. I''ll have to find the mobelwagon, I did'nt even know what AA would have been used against a P-38. Thats what I like about this hobby though , all the constant learning.

Very nice indeed. The dynamic duo strike again.

I have to agree with renarts. The challenge to improve a kit often calls for the modeller to add things not supplied with the kit itself. Little things like boxes, baggage, tarps, camo nets, etc can all be made from simple stuff lying around the home. Making these yourself and seeing the result can give you as much a buzz as building the kit alone. (Don't forget, making these extras yourself gives you something to do before the next spending spreeBig Smile [:D])

Jerry cans, ammo boxes, etc can also be bought at a fairly reasonable price too.

If you haven't got a pin vice yet, like Shermie suggested, you can drill out the gun barrels with the new blade of a knife - just be very careful. Or you can slip a drill bit in some hobby knife handles.

Go the Tamiya Mobelwagon vs the P38, or the Acadamy version of the old Tamiya Wirblewind if you want another cheaper OOB build. Can't think of any kits of Japanese AA guns off the top of my head.

Mike- it's not a competetive thing at all, we do things to each others build still and just do it cause we enjoy it. It's just cool to see the same basic piece of equipment from opposing forces sitting next to each other. I agree totally about taking a substandard kit and making into something alot better as that is what I tried to with the german piece. I still have a few little things here and there to put on it and may get around to doing so if I get bored with the leopard I started yesterday.

Great job guys.

Little fun fact: More modelers are killed or injured responding to domestic build-offs than any other response call. Build responsibly.Wink [;)]

I think half the fun of modeling is taking that kit that you thought was so-so or disapointing and turning it around. Think of it, what you thought was a kit lacking in detail has become an open canvas for you to develop and experiment with your opportunity to detail it on your own, develop building techniques like adding accessories such as spare equipment, weathering, making stowed tarps, bed rolls etc. A little battle damage. Scratch building added equipment or options of vehicle variants. All things that in the long run help with your developing skill level. Some of the best pieces I've seen were from relatively disapointing kits but the details that were added and or developed made all the difference in the world.

It's good that you guys are building together, and in all seriousness, don't make it a competition between each other. It too easily devolves into something not so fun. Though the best intentions are always forward, humans are human and competiton can breed resentment. This is a wonderful opportunity for both of you to share in a hobby and to be able to share a creative experience makes it even more special. Continue to have fun with it.Tongue [:P]

Robert- The decals had problems all around on the 251/1. They kept tearing left and right and would'nt stick good at all. I pretty much gave up on them. Some of it could be lighting, I took the pics in full sunlight. I had not done that before ,overall they turned out better than normal but I guess it brought out the decals alot though.

Demono- It would be very nice to do those, but that cost factor is just a little prohibiting right now. Allthough i wish I could have picked up just the recovery portion of the wagon when hobby lobby had that 50% off. But I decided that 8 kits would be better than one at the time.

Panther- I was really dissapointed with it. Compared to the other Tamiya kits I've done this one lacked alot. I was just glad I only gave $5 for it. I think the Leopard 2A5 I started today is going to more than make up for it though, it looks like it's going to be great.

Thanks for all the compliments. I'm open to suggestions on what to do for round 3.

Really good work, both of you. Lizardqueen's halftrack is really sharp. Great work folks.

very nice, how did you like at 251/1? i just put my last coat of clear-flat this afternoon on mine. i kinda feel the same way as you about the lack of details and accessories especialy inside, it just seems so empty.

just one little detail i dont know if its the camera angle but personaly i think i would have removed the light on the right fender it looks a little out of place , if the right front fender had received that much damage i would think that the light would have just snaped off.

overall both are very nice , much better weathering than i have done

You both did outstanding on the builds. I'd have to call this one a draw.
For round 3, how about Famo vs Dragon Wagon? Should be interesting... if not a bit expensive.
