NYPD ESU Armored Car

For PD uniforms, they tend to be black, but NATO Black will suffice.  Where you can add contrast is in the raid vests, they are often "bluer" if not outright blue in actual practice.

Another note--if that is a COPS crew (or an NYPD documentary crew) they's be given protective gear--vest and helmet, typically.  These would not be raid vests, but would have similar protection.  The vests would be an off-white or khaki color, and utterly devoid  of markings.  Camera guy will have a crooked helmet; the sound guy will be near invisible in his size-or-two-too-large "pot."

The Dragnet movie featured the prop-house M-114 conversion to house-breaker.  (Which may or may not have been funded by LAPD or LASO, then quietly auctioned off, where the prophouse collected it up.)

I actually want to build that scene from die hard with the M-20 crashing up the steps.  Just need more time.  Actually I was thinking about Tamyia's new one in 48th scale but we'll have to see.

I believe the LAPD has a modified M20 in their arsenal. From memory I think it was used in movies like the first "Die Hard" (1988) with Bruce Willis and also "Dragnet" (1987) with Dan Aykroyd. In one of those two movies it is shown with a similar type ram, but the machinegun ring was removed and extra armor platting installed. Your effort is good, keep it up.

Its purely fiction, obviously the police dont use a .50 but it looks cool. I first painted the uniforms black, but it didnt look good so I painted the uniform blue and the vests black like LAPD it adds more contrast. The decals are old and left over from another kit, yes they are referred to as NYPD but NYC POLICE was used for a time as seen on this bike:

I like the use of the COPS video crew and the idea overall.

Do you have reference for NYC Police? They usually identify as NYPD. Also the blue uniforms, shouldn't they be black?

Also, would a ma Deuce be used by police?

Lots of silvering on the decals, be careful of that as is really distracts from a good effort.

No disrespect here, but just to help you out.

The two forward facing hatches in front of the driver and assistant have been put on inside out and upside down. The handles/bars used to close the plates are missing too.

But then, maybe that's how they do it in New York.

Nice job...It is great to se someone thinking outside the box.

There looks like there is dust on the model in places (white specs)?? Also need to clean up the glue blob on emegency light where it connects to the post.
