Miller41, you are correct, no zimmerit in North Africa. Zimmerit was first demonstrated at Kummersdorf on June 5th, 1943. The DAK's last combat actions took place on April 28/30, 1943, so even if the US or British would have had magnetic mines, zimmerit was not yet developed.
