Tamiya 1/48 Panther Type G...Off The Bench (pics)

Another journey into the Dark Side Evil [}:)].  The Tamiya 1/48 Panther Type G kit, built OOB.  Painted with Hobby Color & Tamiya acrylics.  Weathered with oil washes & MIG Pigments.  It's a very nice kit, but could benefit from some AM help in a few areas.  Only thing I didn't like were doing all of those road wheels Grumpy [|(], but I dislike repetitive tasks.  My first attempt at the late war tri-color camo used by the Germans.  Didn't come out as well as I would have liked, but it's passable.

Thanks for looking.  Comments welcome.

Regards,  Rick

Hey Rick,

Nice looking Panther, especially for quarter scale. I think your hard edge scheme looks right on. I would definitely add some screens over the various intakes to add more realism. Impressive work and a fine OOB build. Welcome to the dark side by the way, I know you are an aircraft guy, so, kudos for 'crossing over" as I do from time to time.

regards,

Steve

Rick, you have got to be kidding about it being a passable model, it is great. I just admire folk like you that do so well. Great job and great pics. Don't be hard on yourself, you should see my stuff. I keep it on shelves away from roaming eyes, but it looks good to me and that is what modeling is all about, you please yourself. Take care.

Quite passable I'd say. Thumbs Up [tup] I really like it and agree with Steve about the grills. I've eyeballed this kit myself. What other AM's do you recommend beside grills? Keep up the armor, I really enjoy your builds.

It is easy to see nature talent there. A beautiful Panther.   And out of cuiousity... where is it that you think the tri-color camo ain't good enough.  Looks good to me.

Thanks for the comments Guys, appreciate them.

As far as AM help, I think some PE screens would be the biggest thing.  A metal barrel would make life easier as well. I didn't use them on this build, but the side skirts included in the kit are overscale in thickness & would best be replaced with PE if you wanted them on the model.

Don't see any downside on this one from here RJK! Big Smile [:D]

Certainly would benefit from the aforementioned grill screens, though.

Nice build! Thumbs Up [tup]
