Hey animal,
That is a great build my friend..!!!!!! Did this come from your imagination or did you base it after an actual vehicle?
Great job once again.

I think it looks awesome, very nice job. I've got just one question,....What is it? I know I'm probably showing my armor ignorance here, but oh well.

Only stupid question is the one not asked.

The Alabama Slammer is a convoy escort guntruck that the workers from Anniston Army Depot (Anniston, Alabama) are making to provide fire support to the supply convoys and help prevent ambushes.

The "Slammer" is made by taking the cab off of an old M817 5 ton truck and placing the body of an M113 on top. Windshields are cut into the front slope of the M113 and HMMWV glass inserted.

Animal has done a very nice job with his rendition of the Slammer.

First off thanks for all the kind words. Now to answer some queations.
Mike and NWilliams. this model is based on an actual vehicle in Kuwait. The Army cancelled the project, but I was able to get some photos of the portion that they completed. It is made fron the forward cab and chassis of the M-800 series Tractor and the gutted out shell of the M-113A2 APC( We mated up the old APC hull with the M-54 five ton trucks in Vietnam.) The guys in Kuwait were trying to make an armored vehicle to help protect the convoys from attack. I went and added a lot of features to make the truck safe and road worthy from my own experiences and from members of the Gun Truck crews(Vietnam). Like double wall armor and a seperate compartment for the driver. Air conditioning and extra armor on the under chassis along with armor for the fuel tanks. The weapon system in the commanders cuppolla is something I dreamed up. the Mini gun is electrically fired and cotrolled from inside. It can be fired by the commander from the cuppolla or from inside the hull. The Mk-19 is fired by the truck commander. The truck is designed to be crewed by four people. The Driver, Commander, two gunners and a mechanic/loader.

Red legs the XM-134 mini gun is from Legends Productions and can be purchased at Squadron or Model Mecca.

Robert , Gunnie, Peter, Jon and Mark, thanks for the Kudos.

Great job! I'd feel safe traveling under the protection of those guns.

Nice job on the model. It's a shame that the Army pulled the plug on such an innovative design.
