1/43 Lambretta Scooter with sidecar
Posted by Ozmac on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 12:50 AM

Just finished painting this white metal kit in 1/43 scale of a Lambretta scooter with a sidecar. As a newbie to model-building, lots of things I am building have plenty of "firsts" involved. This time it was the first time I've used enamel paints in my brand new airbrush, and I had plenty of minor disasters and ended up doing a fair bit of touching up with a superfine brush. Anyway, here it is, in a two-tone colour scheme, where I mixed my own pale green and rich cream colours, because I couldn't find what I wanted already mixed.

Cool! Nice to see another 43rd out there.

Welcome to the hobby - you will want to throw things around at times in frustration, but it's all very rewarding. We all make mistakes, don't let that get to you if you also do - learn from it and move on! Every build is a learning experience.

Enjoy! What's up next?

What's next? Well, I do build planes and ships, too, but in the auto line it's another 1/43, and if you think a Lambretta with a sidecar is unusual, then my next project is even more 'out there'.

It's the Panhard Dynavia, a 1948 concept car from the now defunct French manufacturer, Panhard. I have found a kit for it, consisting of resin, plastic and white metal parts. The actual car (there's one left, it's in the French National Motor Museum at Mulhouse, France) was very radical in its day. 610cc flat twin engine, top speed 130km/h, fuel economy of 4.1 l/100km (67mpg), aerodynamic cD of 0.26. They only ever made two of them, and the other one was owned and driven every day by a Swiss gentleman for many years, until it was written off in a smash many years ago.

Here's some pix of the a built model of the 1/43 car, then the kit. Wish me luck

This 1:43 scale model is the only one I have seen in 4 years, and it sold on eBay for about $Au500.

Here's the kit.

Nice job. Mike and Frank from "American Pickers" would be DROOLING over this baby!
