VW beetle
Posted by bud156 on Sunday, October 19, 2008 7:27 PM

I'm re-building a VW beetle for my wife because it starting falling apart. I'm excited because my modeling skills are much better now than the first time I built it so I can really make it shine. I have a couple questions though:

1. Would a dark wash over the panel lines(door, window seams, etc...) look wierd? With all my sanding and a wee bit thick coat of primer they look a little shallow. I think a wash would be easier than trying to re-scribe them. When is the best time to apply it, just before the final coat of future?

2. Since I haven't modeled anything in about 2 years my bottle of future has yellowed. Is it still good to use?

Sorry to be "that guy" who is too lazy to search for the answers but I really appreciate your help.

If you are gonna use a wash, use a very light tint. Just slightly under the color of the body. If you do black or dark gray, it will look awful. Also, I wouldn't use the future. Your floor, yes. a model VW, no. When in doubt, buy a new bottle. Good luck!
