70' Plymouth Roadrunner/ Dodge Superbee Kit-bash
Posted by -Tiny- on Monday, October 20, 2008 4:25 PM

Well this is the most intense custom car I've ever done.  I combined parts from 3 kits.  I used the body of the AMT 70' Plymouth Roadrunner.  I used the chasis and engine from the AMT 70' Dodge Superbee pro street...the infamous lime green jobby that probably everyone has built at some point.  Finally, I used the wheels and tires from an old T'Bird pro street kit.  The hood was fabbed using the existing hood and a scoop left over from my 67' Dodge Coronet.

The engine...Where to start.  The fuel lines are aftermarket braided steel line, along with the rad hose.  The rad hose is hollow, so using flexible wire inside makes it easier to work with.  I also used aftermarket rad hose attatchments.  The wire job was done using fine guage electronics wire bought at Radio Shack...they have a few colours.  The plug housings were clipped pieces of wire insulation.

The vavle covers use 'T' style bolts and the air cleaners were hand made by a buddy of mine back home.  We were sitting around drinking one night at his place, it just so happens he had his own lethe.  I asked him if he could turn me a couple air cleaners.  I made a sketch on a napkin, and I had a couple air cleaners a half hour later!

The roll cage in the car and under the hood is aluminum tig welding wire.  If you can get your hands on a few sticks of this stuff, it is the best thing in the world to use when making cages, drive-shafts and exhausts with.

The paint is actually custom automotive paint.  I went into my local Ideal Supply back home,  went through a whole wack of books and finally picked the winner...Metallic Midnight Purple.

I would show some pics of the chassis, but I'm missing my drive-shaft.  It must have fallen off during transport.  Anyways, have a good one gentlemen.

P.S If anyone would like to see and hear the story on any one of these cars, let me know!
