Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, November 23, 2003 4:22 PM
Black Eye [B)]after 4 unsucessful tries at car models, I am going to get another and Put my Heart and sole into it. It is going to be a 69 chevelle SS my favorite car. has anyone done a model of this, and if so can they recommend a kit, maker, replacement parts, paints to use, how to go about painting it, etc.??? Thankyou

The wonderful thing about model building is your imagination is the limit. You can make the car anything you wish it to be. If you can think of it, you CAN do it.

As for the kit itself, AMT has a nice one, and you should be able to order it from your local hobby store. AMT just re-released it this year, so it should be easy to find.

As for paints---Our hobby is rich. click these links and check them out.

Airbrush....The 69 Velle is a decent kit. Your probably only going to find an AMT kit...I have one sitting in the box from a few years ago....lets just hope with AMT's re-release of this kit they did some re-working of the molds....the last kit wasnt agreat kit, but it wasnt a horrid kit either....
As far as paints go....well you have a ton of options! Acrylics, Enamels, Lacquers.....Its up to you to decide what to use.

Option parts....The market is flooded. Maybe not with specific parts for that car but you can find anything from aluminum distributors(which are pre wired) to Aluminum K&N style airfilters....the options are endless....

As far as my 69 Velle its about time I blew the dust off the box and see how it turns out!
If you dont have an airbrush pick up the December issue of FSM great tips in there by Matthew Usher on how to get good rattle can finishes......Most of all Take your time and good luck!
