I agree completely and the metal chassis is totally pointless to me.

I know what you mean, for some of these asking prices I would expect some PE, resin and a kiss. I used to think the resin 1/48 kits were high but the plastic guys are making a good effort to match them.

I mean, $34 for a 1/48 car ??  That equates to about AU$50, which is what we are paying for 1/35 armour over here.  I dont give a rats *** about the metal chassis, not needed IMHO.  Do you think Mr Tamiya might know he has the only show in town ?   These should be US$20, tops.

Matt.  You really did that kit justice !  Very cool !  Glad that the manufacturers are finally oifferring some ground vehicles in 1/48.  Although there is no way in hell I will pay what Tamiya are asking for the US Staff Car.

Not even close. This is of complete Japanese design inspired in 1935 and was the first practical 4WD vehicle. It used a two cylinder V type 4 stroke engine producing 33 bph.

Had to take a small step back from aircraft today and tackled the Tamiya 1/48 Kurogane. This is a pretty neat little kit with good detail. The driver and the guy standing with the sword are part of the kit. The other two guys came from the Eduard Japanese figure kit. Took about ten hours from start to finish. Most of the base colors are four different shades of acrylic Khaki. The mud was made from baking soda and Tamiya Earth acrylic paint.
