You might want to find out what his first car was (or his favorite car). It will show that you put some serious thought and effort into the gift.

Great idea, though! I built my fathers favorite car for him (1965 Mustang, Silver, black top, red interior). Now he shows it to everyone that comes over! LOL

She was only a whiskey maker, but he loved her still.

Oh thank you.  Those look cool, and they are exactly the kind of cars he likes.  I wish I could remember the brand of car I bought my mom.  The body was all metal, the whole engine was just a flat plastic wafer with some raised sections that snapped (badly) into place under the hood, and I already mentioned the damn wheel.  As long as it's a bit more intensive than that were good.

Ok so I've never been in the auto forum before but I need your help.  My girlfriends dad's bday is on the 12th and I want to get him a model.  I build sci fi models and he just doesn't get it.  He's at a point in life where most hobbies seem like wastes of money.  But I found out he liked building model cars when he was younger.  I think it would be a good bonding experience for us to buold models together.  I need to find a good car model for him.  He likes classic muscle cars.  Now, the only other car model I've made was a new Mustang for my mom's birthday this year.  I spent about $15 at Hobby Lobby and was VERY dissapointed.  There were like 8 parts and one wheel falls off whenever it moves.  I would like to find something not too expensive, and preferably snap together, but still a real model.  Something that would take a bit of time to put together and could be painted, but not really difficult cause he'll never get it done.  If any of you could point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it.  And it would help if it was available at Hobby Town or Hobby Lobby.  Thank you!
